Individual rehearsal (practice) for participants who are from outside Bucharest are available at the National College of Music “George Enescu”. Address: General Gheorghe Manu Street. 30  (Calea Victoriei, near the “George Enescu” museum). To schedule an rehearsal, please contact one special persone (next the College goalkeeper, not secretariate) only on following days and hours:
– Monday, June 17th between 3pm – 7pm,    
– Tuesday – June 18th , Wednesday – June 19th and Thursday – June 20th, between 8am and 6pm(every day). 
– Friday, June 21st only between 9am -12pm.
Please, call not as  for other practice days or hours! Other days are not possible!

Rules

“PRO PIANO-ROMANIA” International Piano Competition

17th Edition, June 18 – 23, 2013

The 2013 “PRO PIANO-ROMANIA”  International Piano Competition  is open to young pianists of any nationality, born after January 1st, 1983.  The 17th edition will take place between 18 – 23 of June 2013.

1. The competitors are divided into 4 age groups (sections); each section is  divided into categories, according to their year of birth: Section A: Junior 1 and Junior 2,  Section B, Section C and  Section D (4 hands)

 
 

 SECTION A: Junior 1 and Junior 2  (one stage):

JUNIOR 1 –  includes children born in 2006 (1st category) and 2005 (2nd category)

Repertoire for Junior 1 (maximum 5’): one study and 2 pieces different styles

JUNIOR 2 – includes children born in 2004 (1st category) and 2003 (2nd category)

Repertoire for Junior 2 ( maximum 8’): one study, one pre-classical (baroque) piece and one piece(classic, or romantic, or modern)

 

SECTION B: 8 age groups (2 stages)

Cat. 1- born in 2002 – maximum: 10 ‘ (for stage II)

Cat. 2 – born in 2001

Cat. 3  – born in 2000

Cat. 4  – born in 1999

Cat. 5  – born in 1998 – maximum: 15 ‘ (for stage II)

Cat 6  – born in 1997

Cat. 7  – born in 1996 – maximum: 20 ‘ (for stage II)

Cat. 8  – born in 1995  and 1994

 

Repertoire:

1st Stage (eliminatory):

a) a study;

b) a piece of pre-classical (baroque)

2nd Stage:

a) a classic piece: sonata (one part only),  Rondo (stand-alone piece), or  Theme with variations

b) a romantic piece or modern piece (universal or Romanian)

 

SECTION  C:  young pianists born after 1983 (3 stages)

Repertoire:

1st Stage  (eliminatory):

a) Two virtuosity studies (Chopin, Liszt, Schumann, Rachmaninoff, Debussy, Skriabin, Prokofiev)

b) J. S. Bach – Prelude and Fugue or 3 movements (parts) of the Suite or Partites

2nd Stage (semi-finale, eliminatory) – maximum 30 ‘

a) a classical sonata (Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven)

b) a modern piece (Universal or Romanian)

3rd Stage (final) – maximum 30 ‘

Recital with pieces different from those performed during the first two stages eliminatory stages, with a compulsory romantic piece included.

 

SECTION  D: 4 hands ensemble (one stage)

Cat. 1 – born between 2004 to 2000

Cat. 2 – born between 1999 to 1993

Cat. 3 – born between 1992 to 1983

 

Repertoire:

Any pieces of your own choice, with the following maximum length:

Cat. 1  – 5 min

Cat 2 – 10 min

Cat 3 – 15 min

 

NOTE:  You can participate in two different categories: the age of competitor and a superior category, with different repertoires. Repertoire statement in your application form cannot be changed afterwards.

The order of interpretation of the pieces is to free choice of candidates. In case of exceeding the maximum set for stage 2 (or 3) the Jury will stop the evolution of the candidates. The competitors will perform in an alphabetical order within their age group. The competition is public.

 

2. The application deadline is 20th of May, 2013.

3. The application shall include:  

• copy of birth certificate/ID/Passport

• application form filled in with  all required data and definitive repertoire

• one photo in digital format(high resolution) or in  electronic format (JPEG)

• receipt certifying the payment of the participation fee: category A – 70 EURO, B – 85 EURO, category C – 100 EURO, category D – 50 EURO/person, payable only trough Western Union (Money Transfer), to address:  Stela Avesalon, Aleea Padurea Craiului 1, Bloc H3, Scara 1, Ap. 11, Sector 3, Of. The contest fee is non-refundable if the participant does not show  up.

Each competitor will receive the official confirmation and invitation(when needed), after your registration.

All travel expenses, accommodation & meals are paid by the participants.

 

4. Awards:

* The “Pro Piano – Romania” International Competition Grand Prix

* 5 (five) prizes for each category, including the Prize of Excellence

* Special Awards

* Award for an outstanding interpretation of a Romanian piece  or of another repertoire piece

* Prizes from sponsors

Awards will be announced after the final Stage(Round) of each section of the “PRO PIANO-ROMANIA” International Competition.

All the participants with no awards, will be given a Diploma of Participation, at their request.

All prizes will be delivered in person at the award ceremony winners: Gala.

 

5. The Jury will include personalities of Romanian and international music world.

The Contest participants will fully respect obey the competition rules and the decisions of the Jury.

The performance of some competitors may be recorded and used after competition, without any pretence of  fee on part of the participants.
